Filling Treatment

It is the cleaning of dental caries and the filling of the gap (cavity) formed in the teeth with an artificial filling material as a negative result of this.

Causes of Tooth Decay

– Bacterial plaque
– Carbohydrate foods (sugar, flour, etc.)
– Structural factors (tooth structure, saliva composition, etc.)
– Time (the duration of food stay in the mouth)

Bacterial plaque formed by bacteria in the mouth can form acid due to the residues of sugary and flour foods left in the mouth. These acids dissolve the mineral tissue of the tooth and disrupt the enamel of the tooth, causing the formation of cavities on the tooth, which we call cavities.

Diagnosis and Diagnostic Methods

Tooth Decays can occur on the chewing surface of the tooth, on the interfaces of the teeth that touch each other, or in the neck areas of the teeth. Brownish or hollows that form on visible surfaces are easy to identify, but X-ray diagnosis is also necessary for bruises that have not formed these symptoms.

Decay that starts in the enamel tissue of the tooth progresses to the dentin tissue when untreated. Dentin is a structure that dissolves more easily than enamel, and therefore the progression of caries is rapid. In a bruise that has reached the dentin tissue, the patient may have hot, cold, sour, sweet sensitivity as a result of a factor. This pain goes away when the factor disappears. If the pain has become constant, the caries has progressed to the pulp layer, where the vascular-nerve package of the tooth is collected, and root canal treatment is required.

Treatment Methods
Composite Filler

It is a mixture of plastics containing silicon dioxide particles. With various color options, it is not noticeable on the tooth and is also called aesthetic-white filling. The material, which was used only on the front teeth for a while, has been strengthened by various methods and made suitable for the back teeth as well. The filling material placed on the tooth using a special binding agent is hardened with a light device and its polishing is done in the same session.

Porcelain Filling

Measurements are taken from the cavity prepared in porcelain fillings and sent to the laboratory. When the patient comes to the next session, the polished porcelain filling is glued to the cavity.

Amalgam Filler

It is formed by mixing an alloy of silver, tin and copper with mercury in a ratio of 45%-50%. After the cavity cleaned from the bruise is filled with amalgam filling material, it is recommended not to use that area for two hours and not to chew anything hard for 24 hours. the filling, which hardens thoroughly after 24 hours, is polished and the process is completed
