Dental Diseases

It is the Main Branch of Science that deals with Inflammatory Diseases Caused by Dental Tissues and Surrounding Tissues and their Treatment.

Periodontitis disease is an inflammatory type characterized by the destruction of teeth and tooth-supporting tissue (periodontal ligament, cementum, alveolar bone). Gingivitis has progressed to the alveolar bone (jawbone). The main cause is bacterial plaques, which can be treated mechanically. It can be seen that the causes of the occurrence of the disease are caused by genetic, environmental and systematic factors. Epilepsy, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, down syndrome, AIDS and blood diseases can also be considered systemic factors.

Bleeding gums are the first symptom of periodontal diseases, which are common. Reddened gums have a swollen and shiny surface. In most cases, bad breath, itching in the gums, bleeding sensations, sensitivity in the teeth can also be added to these symptoms.

It seems that periodontal diseases can affect people to a different degree at any age, from childhood to old age. Most of the time, since the patient does not have any complaints such as pain, it can progress without symptoms. When the patient has a complaint, intact, caries-free teeth are lost by shaking due to losses in supporting tissues.

If the main teeth can be saved, no matter how unhealthy they are, all the necessary treatment methods should be applied to prevent loss. At this point, Periodontal treatment comes into play. Different treatment methods can be applied according to the type and severity of the disease. These can be summarized simply as oral hygiene education, tartar cleaning, root surface smoothing, regenerative, reconstructive and mucogingival operations. Periodontal treatment can be included in providing gum aesthetics for individuals with a high laughing line. The patient’s habits and cooperation with the specialist doctor, oral hygiene and treatment planning directly affect success.

No restorative treatment can be applied to teeth that are not periodontally healthy.
